Vet Orchestra

FILED IN: Events

What a night!

The Australian Veterinary Orchestra (AVO) teamed up with the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra to perform at the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) Conference in May this year.

The orchestra was established by tuba player, Mike Woodham, owner of Sugarland Veterinary Clinic, who says that music can be a great coping mechanism for stress and anxiety.

“After some music therapy, I can certainly endorse the benefits of music to veterinary mental health,” Mike said. He plays seven instruments, ranging from piano to tuba.

By joining the AVO, veterinarians are be able to share their love of music while collaborating and breaking down isolation in the veterinary community. They play musical instruments with the goal of enhancing Veterinary Surgeon mental health and well being through music and to promote and fund raise for the AVA benevolent fund. avo@sugarlandvet.com
