Amy & Simon

FILED IN: Events, Weddings

After meeting Amy and Simon at a party which I photographed earlier in the year, I had walked away humbled and in awe of what a wonderful, warm and incredibly genuine group of family and friends they had. To be able to see everyone again and to share in the celebration of Amy and Simon’s wedding was just a dream come true. My covid-safe mask couldn’t stop me grinning from ear to ear as I got to not only capture all of the beautiful memories below but also remember and re-lived some of the hilarious shenanigans of our last meeting.

With Covid-19 restrictions preventing Amy and Simon from hosting a large wedding in 2020, they chose to celebrate their first wedding anniversary among their many friends and family at the McIlwraith Croquet Club in Auchenflower and it was a delight!

You couldn’t have picked more perfect weather to relax with a beer in hand and enjoy a few cheeky games of croquet on brilliant green lawns under a Queensland blue sky. With no limit on age or competitive-ness, competition was fierce and the laughter infectious! There were Balls in Hand, Stalking, Take-Offs and even a Jumpshot! (If this all sounds a little crazy the ladies at McIlwraith can explain!). To say I was surprised at how fun Croquet was is like describing Robert Fulford (5 time Croquet world champion) as “surprised” when he was beaten by 24 year old Chris Clarke in 1995.

After a sensational lunch provided by the amazing Char Baby Food Truck – Moveable feast, it was onto speeches, some post-wedding cake and then the cutest round of the Wedding Shoe game I have ever witnessed. For the uninitiated, the Wedding Shoe game poses questions to the Bride and Groom with their different and opposing answers providing plenty of laughs. Amy and Simon however, being ridiculously cute and in-touch answered just about every question the same. It was ADORABLE.

With the kids falling asleep in the shade and the sun dipping down behind the trees it was time to hang up the Croquet mallets and say goodbye. What an absolutely amazing afternoon and group of people!
