In the shade of a cocktail umbrella, watching the sunset behind the Storey Bridge, the last rays of light dancing through the leaves of a fake palm tree, I could almost feel the sand between my toes and the weightlessness of being on holiday. But alas I was working and this little oasis down in the heart of Brisbane city at the River Shed was for the hard working people of NRF.
Calling this a Christmas party would be akin to calling the muddy bank below us a beach. This was a slice of paradise wearing a grass skirt and drinking pina coladas out of half a coconut. An amazing celebration against the stunning backdrop of the sparkling Brisbane city skyline.
There was plenty of laughter, cocktails, cricketers, life guards, hula girls and for those feeling the heat icecream to boot. It was an incredible night and one I wont soon forget.
