It’s always a pleasure when you get to photograph a family as diverse and close knit as Kara’s, it’s rare though when the party is on a boat with hawaiian shirts galore and there’s a murder! Let me explain!
When Karas 50th birthday plans of relaxing on cruise were sunk by Covid, they swapped the open ocean for the beautiful Brisbane river at sunset and decided to host a Caribbean Murder Mystery cruise. It was epic!
“You had me at Ahoy!”
To say I was excited when I read Steve’s (Kara’s Husband) photography enquiry is an understatement and it didn’t disappoint. The 50th Birthday party was hosted aboard the Lady Brisbane which cruised up and down the Brisbane river at golden hour with spectacular views of the city and its surrounds. However much of the excitement and our attention was drawn below deck where we discovered there had been a murder and it was up to the colourful collection of passengers to find out whodunnit! When I say colourful I mean the BRIGHTEST, LOUDEST most AMAZING gathering of Hawaiian shirts you have ever seen.
Kara played game master and had clues for guests to find and decipher, mini games and singing competitions and of course a treasure map! This was truly a party like no other, alliances were formed, spies were discovered, ale was drunk and an amazing sense of comradery was felt aboard the Lady Brisbane.
What an awesome birthday to be a part of with such a beautiful group of family and friends. It was a pleasure being your photographer, Tim
