Amanda 40th

Fairy lights, Sequins and tuxedos, holy cannoli what a night to remember!!!

When Amanda’s event photography booking came through and I saw the dress code was Glamour I started to get excited. When I saw it was at Smoked Garage in Fortitude Valley I did a little dance. When I arrived on the night and saw the thousands upon thousands of fairy lights I lost it. Surviving another year in these wild times is always cause for celebration but turning 40 is a very big deal. Some people, myself included, fear the big Four Oh and hope it comes and goes unnoticed and without fanfare. Others take it by the hand, twirl it around and throw it into a spectacular dip before swooping it up into a passionate embrace. Amanda and Ryan dip into the second category.

Like the word AWESOME we often hear people describing events as feeling as though “they were in a movie” and while sometimes I’m sure it’s true, these phrases have slowly entered our lexicon and become as common as saying Great! and Wonderful! And they lose their meaning. Well I can say without a shred of guilt that Amanda’s party at the Smoked Garage felt EXACTLY like being in a hollywood film. Stepping through the doors of the Smoked Garage on Saturday night was like stepping back in time. Its rough exposed brick walls meet beautiful polished tiled floors under grand chandeliers and we are only in the foyer! Venturing further in and 10 chandeliers later the private room opens up to reveal floor to ceiling fairy lights as far as the eye can see and glittering amongst them a sea of the most glamorous velvet and sequin clad guests, champagne glasses in hand. It was spectacular.

I could try and describe how heartfelt the speeches were and what wonderful families both Amanda and Ryan came from and I could fill a blog about the incredible cannoli “cake” for dessert but it really was one of those experiences where you just had to be there to understand how special it was. I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of such a magical night and hope going through the photos below will give you even 1% of the fun I had taking them.
