Jock’s 60th

FILED IN: Events

Cool Breeze

There was a cool breeze blowing and the February sun was setting behind the Brisbane City skyline. On the patio of Bougainvillea House, overlooking the Brisbane River, the fairy lights were just starting to turn on. Howard Smith Wharves was teeming with excitement and jubilation but up on the small hill at Bougainvillea House the relaxed atmosphere was withstanding the distant shouts and calls of celebration. The guests were getting comfortable with glasses of wine in hand while the gentle music spilled out the french doors and drifted down onto the grass lawn where a child was playing with their grandpa. The atmosphere was sublime.

Hot Air

But the winds of change were blowing and on them the distinct sound of bagpipes could be heard and people were starting to notice. One by one, party by party, heads were turning to find the source of the commotion. Bougainvillea House was starting to stir as the whispers turned to chatter and the chatter turned to cheers. Striding up the long and winding path, led by a solo bagpipe player was Jock, adorned in full Highland Dress, his tartan kilt betraying his pale legs.

Love Under The Kilt

To say the party arrived with Jock would be a gross understatement. Every event under the Storey Bridge that night went up 10 decibels upon his arrival. Now it would be very easy to draw parallels between Jock and bagpipes; Unapologetically Scottish, unapologetically bold and obviously an instant head turner. However bagpipes are ultimately just full of hot air while Jock is just brimming with heart. From how he made thanking each and every guest personally his first priority upon arrival to how his friends and family looked up to him. There was a lot of love under that kilt.

The speeches were charming, the cake was to die for and the setting was stunning. However it was Jock, his amazing wife Wendy and his family and friends that really made this night so special.

Another wonderful Howard Smith Wharves birthday party photographed by Brisbane Event Photographer!
